Equilibrium was better

Similar story lines, but Equilibrium was an underrated film.

I really enjoyed both but, although the premise is the same, I think of them as two totally different movies. I enjoyed the action of equilibrium but was impacted by the actual feeling invoked by the giver.

totally agree.

equilibrium is a hugely underrated masterpiece. kurt wimmer is underrated too; one of the fiercest minds in hollywood, though hardly anybody seems to acknowledge that.

Equilibrium was basically like this film but with a plot that made sense, actors who could act, a believable story line and an ending that didn't feel as though it had been tacked on after test screenings.

That movie was a wreck. It could have been something special but the stupid action took away from any meaning of a story.

This film could have been great as well. I wish they would have split it into multiple films. The premise is extremely interesting but it loses a lot of what could have made it special by giving people special powers.

Examining that losing lessons from history that has been lost is an extremely amazing idea for a film. If they could have made this more a piece on humanity and lost the teenage dystopian premise every single dystopian film is going for this could have been much more.

Ok wish the author of the original book would re write it for a more adult audience because a lot of those ideas are magic and important.
