Ideas for 'The Giver 2'
After the emotional tour de force that was 'The Giver', I was wondering how they could possibly top it in the already much-anticipated sequel. Well, here are some ideas:
1. The lad reaches the house he discovered at the end and finds a bunch of old people in there, all dressed in rags. These are the people sent to 'Elsewhere' and the house is a colony where they live.
2. Unfortunately, outside of their controlled environment, they have regressed into stinking putrid cannibals, and they take the boy and the baby hostage in order to force the colony to meet their demands to make it stop snowing.
3. The Colony have no choice, and so they all go into exile into the wilderness while the cannibals move into the colony, enjoying the modern luxuries therein, and finding some element of inner peace and self-forgiveness.
4. The Colony members discover the ruins of Los Angeles which are ruled over by a computer and his human slaves.
5. The members are captured, with most being turned into cyborg minions.
6. However, the lad turns up with the baby and helps to rescue some of them.
7. Being chased out of the Los Angeles ruins, they are about to be minced up and torn apart by the cyborg pursuers, but at the last moment, a team of future marines led by a gruff Vietnam veteran saves them.
8. They lead the remaining individuals back to their colony where it's discovered that the year is only actually 2016, and the colony was set up by aliens to preserve Humanity against an horrific experiment gone wrong which unleashed robots on the Earth. During this time they have been plied with mind-altering drugs to make them think it's 8000 years in the future.
9. The remaining humans go back to the Colony where the elderly residents greet them, and inform them that they've managed to contact the aliens who are coming to Earth to save them.
10. The robots, having followed their former captives, are just about to invade the Colony and finally wipe out Humanity, when lo, the sound of seven trumpets comes forth from the heavens, and none other than Jesus Christ Himself, Our Lord and Saviour, levitates down through the clouds.
11. It turns out that Jesus and God are the aliens who accidentally left the robots on Earth.
12. They manage to negotiate peace between the robots and the Colony, and they all end up living side by side in peace and harmony.
13. However, after the closing credits, a short 10 second clip appears. The baby, now all grown up, pulls a dusty cover off a mysterious machine which has 'Time Machine' stamped on the side. This would then lead us into 'The Giver 3: Battle for the Past', where humans go back in time to stop it all happening in the first place.
