Taylor Swift cameo
I screamed when she came on screen. She is so underrated as an actress. Love her

It's not a cameo. It's a part. She plays the part of "Rosemary". A cameo is something completely different.

Cameo: a small character part in a play or movie, played by a distinguished actor or a celebrity.
It's perfectly acceptable to call Swift's very small part in this movie a cameo.
It's perfectly acceptable to call Hell a Sauna, but that doesn't make it so.
A cameo is what Stan Lee does in all the Marvel films. But if someone is recurring on screen, has several lines and acts in different scenarios, they are playing a part. It's not the same as a cameo.
X ~We are the people our parents warned us about
A cameo can be a bit part. Taylor's talents were shown on purpose (and against the book character). It could be argued that since this role was so small to begin with, hiring such a prominent singer to portray her was a form of cameo.
Bob
A cameo is when a person related to the project makes an aperance, either be seen or have a few lines (a small part) as a type of easter-egg in the film. The exception is when someone plays themselves, or a part from a different film. Like Disney always putting a "Mickey" appearance in their films.
Hichcook for example always had an appearance in his own films. Stan Lee has an appearance in all Marvel films. Peter Jackson made an appearance in all the LOTR films.
Continuing to ague that Taylor Swift had a "cameo" is just proving that you have no clue what the word actually means.

The cameo doesn't have to be from someone related to the project. It just has to be a small part that stands out. And in this case with Taylor playing Rosemary, she played a musical Rosemary, which was contrary to the character. The piano scene was solely there because Taylor could play the piano and sing. It was there to show her musical talent, not to copy any scene from the book.
Bob
I didn't say it solely had to be. There are a few exceptions to a cameo, but this is not one.
She is in several scenes, she has several lines. She is playing a part.
(The book has nothing to do with it)
A cameo is a short apperance, the several minutes of screentime she has and was payed for is not a cameo.

Silence! I have decided it IS a cameo, end of discussion!

Krillin: Man, that android is toast!
Piccolo: Yeah... More like, burnt toast.
-It's a shoe!
-No, it is a sandal!
Why is it whenever I'm having fun, it's wrong?
Whoever thinks playing a part is considered a "cameo" just bacause they are famous for something other than acting is a *beep* idiot.

Alol! How about you use google, or take a class on the topic.
I might be a jerk, but you are an idiot.
Its not a short aperance if she is playing a part. A cameo is a person visable for one scene, usually a "blink and youll miss it". Like Peter Jackson in Lord of the rings or Rapunzel in Frozen.
Just because you missuse the word like a moron, doesnt make you right.

You clearly have no clue what youre talking about. The fact that you keep harping on erroneous information speaks volumes about your ignorance. Bob is correct, you are incorrect, but you have the narcissistic need to be"right" and you keep responding not realizing you are looking more stupid by the minute. You think the definition of cameo is the rigid when it in fact very flexible. It is perfectly acceptable to call her role a cameo. Grow up and stop acting like a petulant child.
shareKeep using more words that you have no clue what they mean. You really are an idiot.
Go play with Bob, since youre both wrong. Make children that can be raised by idiots and grow up and be bigger idiots.
You can "call it a cameo" all you want, but it still isnt a cameo. Just because you keep repeating your idiocracy doesnt change facts, its not what a cameo is.

Accept two other educated posters in this thread agree with me. Again, YOU HAVE NO CLUE. Come back and converse with adults when you actually know something.
How about you accept that you were wrong, your desperate attept at trying to save face is pathetic. It makes you look more like an idiot.
"Two educated posters", they are not educated in the meaning of the word, just like you. And you seem to ignore that more people than me point out your misstake.
She is playing a part, that is not a cameo. Get a clue and some manners.

The only person trying to save face is you becuase you know you have no clue what youre talking about. And it find it funny that the first post you put on this thread was an insult yet you are telling people to get some manners. Youre a hypocrite and an idiot.
shareI have more than a clue, I have an education. You seem to lack that, as well as social skills. You are an idiot. If you didnt agree with that, why so upset?

ok idiot im just going to put you on ignore now bye felicia.
shareVery mature. You lose an argument and you just ignore facts. Good luck in life little girl.

It's more mature than to keep arguing when it's obvious it's going nowhere dont you think? Although if it were me, one reply would be all you get. I don't waste my time arguing with strangers on the Internet.
shareHowever, creating or changing a character to more reflect the talents of the non actor can easily be considered a cameo. In the book, music was unknown to everyone but the Giver. Pianos and other musical instruments did not exist in their community nor did singing. The creation of a musical Rosemary to match the musical Taylor can be seen as a cameo.
Bob
No Bob, it isnt.
--There is no spooon
So why did they change the character of Rosemary? Why have a piano and have her practice singing? Those were talents of Taylor, not Rosemary.
Bob
Because the movie is "based up on" a book. Its not a copy of every single word of the pages. They gave Rosemay some traits so that she would come to life on the screen, im sure they could have made a her a dancer, but why not use skills that the actor has. If they had her be exactly like the book, she would be a cardboard-cutout.
--There is no spooon
You didn't answer my question. I accept some changes must be made, but this was a change to an insignificant character by playing to the actor's singing and musical talents. Why change such a minor character to more reflect the actor unless you are casting for a cameo?
Bob
Because they casted her for a part. Not a cameo. They gave the "insignificant" character some personality, and they did it by using Taylors skills. It has nothing to do with who Rosemary is in the book, they wanted her to be more than a two dementional character. So they had her play piano, had Taylor not been casted, another actress would have done the same. Its how the part is built.

Thank you for that input. I agree.
X ~We are the people our parents warned us about
Yes, she really showed off her acting in this cameo. (Sarcasm)
shareRosemary is a part...a character with purpose who helps drive the plot line...absolutely not anywhere near a cameo. I'm kinda shocked this person can't just accept they misunderstood the meaning and carry on like a normal person. Let it go dude, not a big deal. Having to be right about everything especially when you are clearly wrong is annoying and unattractive.
