I could never see the U.K becoming anything like this...

Of course it's only a movie but the British government would never become so ''religious'' and they wouldn't be executing anyone. Likely there would be expulsions of some immigrants, especially Muslims and some level of white nationalism but nothing approaching what is portrayed in the film. The British loathed the toxicity of Nazism. Also homosexuals would be left alone in my opinion.

The political structure would just fall back to classic Toryism, NHS would be eliminated and there would be little social safety net. The level of tyranny would not be like what's portrayed in the film (with curfews and strict punishment) but people who really acted up rioting against the government would likely face long jail sentences.

Anyway.. that's my interpretation.

The way I see it, the UK is already very much like the way it is in the film. You have a Government which silences people, authorities that fail to protect people because they fear being called racists. You have groups of people driving cars into crowds of people, assorted uses of violence to try and win control and instill fear.

And of course you try and protest in any way they have all sorts of labels for you not to mention crimes they can charge you with. You have the toxicity of a Socialist state basically. And the Socialists are the only ones who are free to express their hatred and anger.

I see the U.K going down a very right wing path. The NHS is being deliberately underfunded, society is set up to serve the rich and the class divide is going back to how it once was in the past.

And why is that though? The Left have pushed things to such a degree and all their promises and policies have been proven to fail.

I suggest you look up the tenants of Socialism and Communism, it actually wants poor people to eradicate the middle classes. It wants people to be stupid so they are easy to control.

A Right Wing path is needed to cure the UK and all of the Western world. Socialism is a killer.

Extreme capitalism leads to a recession. Neither ''extreme'' is very good. Why can't we just have a balanced and sensible society? I guess never again...

reply

Why can't we? We actually did. I don't know how old you are but I remember a much better time. But that worked too well. The Socialists wanted to cause division and have done so, they have created a huge mess and now the time has come for adults to rule again.

Maybe it will swing back to the middle at some point but before that it must swing to the other extreme so the cleansing can begin.

I think, if you want to view it from a different standpoint, it's more of a "What if?" kind of story, not a realistic look at what could happen to the UK, because frankly, I doubt they would ever get that way either.

You must also remember that it was the Wachowskis who wrote this, who are very weird, and very liberal. This film basically illustrates all their fears of what they THINK a conservative government could turn into, rather than how it would work in reality. They get points for creativity, but lose points for no grasp on reality.
