Did the Gogol's mother understand what Moushoumi was saying in French?

When she was talking to Pierre and flirting with him and telling him how much she missed him.. She gave her a sorta weird look like she understood.. but it was never elaborated.

I don't think she understood the words, but she certainly could understand the tone of affection. By the way the look she throws Moushoumi is the only consequence of her "getting it", she doesn't follow up on that, and it's from her son that she finds out of the affair.

Of course she didn't understand the words. But it was pretty obvious that Moushoumi was flirting...

Ha, now it makes sense.

I saw the movie translated in french and there was no way we could know she was talking in a language the mother couldn't understand. I was amazed how much nerves she had to say that in front of her husband's mother !

LOL! That's why I hate dubbing.

Wholeheartedly agree. She did not have to understand what Moushoumi was saying in French. Her body language told it all. The light talking...her body movements while speaking. You know that feeling when someone you have it for calls you... your whole demeanor changes

YOU MADE ME PLAY SECOND BASE!

She's clearly educated and notably in languages from her introduction so I interpreted her reaction as understanding French, at least partially.
