It's funny because I was really thinking hard about this...
But seriously, I can't think of an actor who could have pulled off one of the most complex on-screen characters I've ever witnessed.
It's literally the profile of a man breaking down and incapable of dealing with the psychological trauma he's endured while trying to continue to behave like a man-child while also trying to "fit in" with "grown-up" America.
This was a chilling and frightening look at what happens to a lot of people in our current day society. Bale put on one of the most disturbing and believably profound character portrayals I've ever seen.
