...thought Christian Bale was hotter than ever in this movie? Sure his character's the biggest *beep* imaginable and I would never mess with a guy like that in the real world but he is soooooo HOT!!!

Some women love men like that(not ALL women,but specifically women who grew up in abusive homes) because we get it drilled into our heads from birth by society that only "real" men act like that, when that's not even the case some of the time. Men also get it drilled into their heads from birth that that's how a "real" man is supposed to act. Guys who tend to be overly macho sometimes tend to be abusive (I'm not saying all,just some---quiet dudes can be the same way,they just don't make it so obvious.) Some of us just like nerds,or at least guys that don't feel the need to howl and beat on their chests about how manly they are,and act like a**holes in the process (and then they come out as gay anyway--just kidding.
That being said, I liked HARSH TIMES, Bale is good and intense in it as usual--he pretty much killed it, and was hilarious in it at some points (as he is in just about everything he's in,and yeah, I forget to mention that he's good-looking,without even trying to be) and I never understood why it didn't seem to get the push it should have gotten, because it's a pretty damn good movie, and deserved to be seen. It's also one of his more overlooked performances,too.
I get what you're saying but Jim (Bale's character) was a woman beating and abusing piece of 5hit who was trying to force himself on his ex=girlfriend, then went to Mexico, threatened to punch his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach (whilst strangling her and pointing a gun to her head), then threatening to kill her. If that's not abuse then I dunno what is.
But yeah Bale is a gorgeous male specimen...and I'm a heterosexual bloke! :)

No, it is not "KNOWN" that women tend to have hots for abusive men. Are there a few here and there? Sure, but you made a blanket statement that "WOMEN TEND TO"...which means you're saying ALL WOMEN like abusive men. You're out of you're realm and league on this subject.
There is a HUGE difference between real life and watching a film. Christian Bale is hotter than hell. Even in this film. It's not his abusiveness that makes him hot. It's that we know he's an ACTOR and he sure as hell knows how to act! There are COUNTLESS actors who have played "the villain" as in murderers, thieves, jerks, etc. who we like. In the film world, they are called the "anti-heroes". You actually think women loved Christian Bale being a killer in "American Psycho"?? Are you NUTS? No. But is he hot? Oh, yeah.
Men love anti-heroes, also. It doesn't mean you really like a man who is evil. Look up online how many anti-heroes there are that you're very fond of...male or female. Welcome to the movies.
When somebody says Bale cannot play a seducer because of his 'typical British restraint' I point this movie out to them.

Yes.
I always find him unbelievably hot with the possible exception of American Hustle but even there in that movie his charisma showed through. I could go further ito detail but it would veer way OT.
But I recognized his character. I live in a military town and see men (or I should say damaged men)like this daily. Unfortunately I always fall for the damaged ones.
