Time to up the ante...

'Farewell Numbers'. 'If it has to end, then they went out on a high note'. 'Quote: 'Not expected back next season'!!!!'.

Wow.

Really positive thinking, huh?

Newsflash, people. It hasn't been cancelled. YET. The final decision won't be made for another month. So before we all sign the Book of Condolence for the demise of Numb3rs, how about coming at this from a different angle? How about, instead of writing pretty epitaphs about how wonderful the show was and how important it was to the fans, we tell CBS that they're making a BLOODY GREAT STONKING MISTAKE by even considering dropping the show and that we want - nay, we demand - a season 7? How about actually doing something positive to try and save it?

It's easy, it's simple and it won't take too much out of your day. This is the 'wax on, wax off' style of campaigning.

Step 1: Sign the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/numb3rs/petition.html. There is also another petition at: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/numb3rs-petition/

Step 2: Write to Nina Tassler (El Presidente of CBS) at:
Nina Tassler
President, CBS Entertainment
4024 Radford Ave., Room 3118
Studio City, CA 91604

Step 3: Vote for Numb3rs at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433309/ (Go to 'User Rating' and vote)

Step 4: Go to CBS.com and leave a comment on their message board.

Step 5: If you're in the US, why not organise a protest outside CBS HQ? (I'm in the UK so that step is a little on the 'not do-able' side of things for me, but I'll be there with you in spirit, believe me!)

Step 6: Tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell that weird guy who shouts at the traffic on the corner of the street - tell anyone but get people involved.

If they managed it with Jericho, there's no earthly reason why you can't do the same with Numb3rs. (But don't send nuts. Because that would be just weird...)

See? Wax on, wax off.

You still here?

Why aren't you writing a letter?

Peace,

Kes

You do know that when they brought back Jericho the ratings sucked worse than the previous season, right?

Honestly, I think the show's run it's course and that they ended it on a great note. Nothing lasts forever.

That's fine biglow, and your opinion. However, there's a lot of people who think there's life in the old dog yet, so no matter what, I'm going to carry on campaigning until we get the final decision from CBS. My post is aimed at those who feel the same way about the situation, particularly after season 6 got hacked back so unceremoniously by the network. The writers have said that the ending was designed to go either way (as a season or series finale), so that indicates they have (or at least had) storylines in the works. I for one would like to see them.

As for Jericho, well, I thought it sucked the first time around anyway, but again, that's just my opinion.

if you read the thread about the not expected back next season quote, it was intended to motivate people not bring negativity...just saying

For the record, I did send TWO letters, and I'm the guy who posted the 'high note' thread

reply

*Sigh* OK, look. Firstly, I fully intended to ruffle feathers. Why? Because I was so sick and tired of seeing so much negativity around the boards. I chose those particular thread titles at random because the tone came across as defeatist and a confirmation of that negativity, especially when the final decision hasn't actually been made by the people who have the final decision. The impression for anyone coming to the boards is that the show has definately been canned, which it hasn't. YET. Mitchell, good for you! Two letters is two more than none, but less than three, so why not bung another one in the post, mate? It can't do any harm, right? Please don't try and read any sarcasm into that, there isn't any. I'm just trying to gee people up into not giving up just yet. Pirate, I did read the thread, I've read every thread. I'm talking about first impressions here, which a lot of people go on.

If you took offence at the post, then blame my English sense of humour. But don't slam me just because I'm trying to stay positive and actually do something about the situation.

For months I've been trying to keep people updated, pass on any information about the Save Numb3rs campaign as I can and generally motivate people to get involved. Forgive me if the post came across as a little jaded, but there's only so much I can do on my own. I'm trying to encourage as many people as possible to make their voices heard, because there doesn't seem to have been any focal point for the campaign. I'm not setting myself up as some kind of crusader here, just someone who cares passionately about good, no, make that great television and doesn't want to see Numb3rs replaced with some kind of mindless reality show or yet another medical drama.

This will be my last posting on IMDb, so there will be no further responses to this thread from me. So rather than slag me off, (which you can do if you want, I really don't care that much - unlike some I don't worry about what people I've never met who are thousands of miles away and know nothing about me think of me) just stay positive, stay hopeful and stick a stamp on a postcard or letter and fire it off to Nina Tassler, whether you've already written a letter or not.

I've enjoyed my time here, and I think you are a great bunch of people, but it's time for me to move on to other things.

Peace and love to all,

Kes

You do realize that the viewers the networks are most interested in don't sit around on the internet fighting to save TV shows right?? The more time you spend doing this, the less time you have to buy the tooth whiteners and body sprays..

reply

Sorry. Numb3rs is one of my top five current shows of the moment. I'm even currently reading that book about the numbers behind Numb3rs. But I have to say, this show is gone. I can't see how any fan can get past news like this:

"Rob Morrow joins ABC pilot Rob Morrow has signed on to star in ABC's Jerry Bruckheimer pilot The Whole Truth, according to Variety. In other news, David Krumholtz has joined Fox's untitled Ron Howard IRS pilot." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1610515/news#ni1734437.

At this point, what would it take to save Numb3rs? Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz breaking their contracts with their new shows? Numb3rs somehow going forward with replacement characters? I'd see the latter as more of a travesty than accepting that this season's finale was the series' finale.

The only future installments I can even imagine would be TV movies--probably on a network rerunning the show rather than on CBS. But even that seems doubtful to me.
