Can this show be any more annoying with the interpersonal relationships?

I love the smart, intellectual, logical, science/probability-based problem solving nature of the show, but the the uber, annoying, forced interpersonal relationships really drive me crazy. Aside from some subtle, brief allusions to what's going in their lives, personally, I could really care less. It all seems so forced and the relationship dialogue is comes in such machine gun bursts and out of no where, it totally takes me outta the thesis of the each episode. I only have started watching these reruns, late at night @5am, when nothing is on but b/c of the previously stated reasons, I start flipping the channels.

I never liked any of Don's girls. Flakes, all of them. And what's with giving Alan a regular GF who is ALSO a numbers prof? Pleeze...she could have brought something else into the mix. An architect of something. Too much, too much. I would have liked to see Alan with a different woman every episode. what fun!

Oops! ...just saw this reply. Yeah, I agree. I like to see characters and their relationships fleshed out somewhat, but not to the point, where it becomes distracting to the theme of the show, which is a police, math solving action show.

I respectfully disagree about Millie and Allan. She was a spirited woman and a good match for him. I really enjoyed her character and was sad to see her dropped with no explanation.

I totally agree. I would have loved to see them have her on as a semi regular she and Alan were good for each other.

I agree. Most of the relationships don't work. The only exception is Charlie & Amita (they make a cute couple) and the Epps men (father and sons). Don's romantic relationships are all duds. They make him look like a coldhearted jerk who keeps using and dropping women. Robin is a female version of him, completely unlikable.
Larry & Megan had cute scenes, but he was just too weird and self-involved to be realistic dating material for her.

But then the whole concept of the show is a bit too clinical at times. They try to force the math solution when basic observation and common sense is what's needed to solve the case.

To be fair Don does come across that way. He looks and acts like a jerk.

I never bought Larry being with anyone.

And yes the maths is unlikely.
