I just got into this show and have been binging and I have a question. Is it just me or is Don a complete jerk? Charlie has his moments but with Don it is pretty much all the time.

Well...not really a jerk. Don is just a really dedicated FBI Agent. But he's so typically dedicated that his life is screwed up. All 3 of them have never gotten over the mother dying, so there's a bit of a savior complex, too.
The mom lived with teenage genius Charlie away at college while the dad stayed home with Don, so there are family issues, as well.

I get all that but he still comes off as a jerk.

It's just Rob Morrow. To me, he has that snotty attitude in everything I've seen him in. However, still have loved his two major shows - Northern Exposure and Numbers. Plus, it's just part of his characters' personalities - not everyone is nice and nice people are kind of boring to watch.

Don is not a jerk, he's just socially inept. when the boys were growing up, most of the attention was focused on Charlie's genius, therefore they both are lacking in social skills. But Don has a desire to make himself a better person so you see him making his way trying to find answers. I liked the way they improved his character and brought the boys together as friends and brothers.

I wish they could have dressed him suit jackets that fit. all his suit jackets look like he borrowed one from his Dad.
