What a great episode. Friday Oct 23
Perhaps my favorite of the series to date.
And the kicker line:
Don: "Hmmm, Fairbanks. Never been there."
And Rob said it with a smile too.

actually, i think this episode stinks. the whole thing they were doing with camera angles was unnecessary and irritating, and the cloning plotline was beyond ridiculous.
shareI figured out about the child about 10 minutes before Charlie and Anita, but still thought this was a great show.
shareI just really liked that the good guys got the little girl (CJ) away from the Kooks and in an in-your-face sort of way.
Didn't care for some of the camera stuff but I got used to it once I got into the episode.

Ohhh...I didnt get that. I never watched NT. I was wondering why they said Fairbanks. So is NT set in Fairbanks...if so, that is funny.
shareActually, Northern Exposure was set in a very small town named Cicily but the character went to Fairbanks a time or two during the run of the show.
It was the Alaska reference that was the real shout out to N E.

the only thing that irritated me about this ep was when they mentioned terry shiavo. they mangled her hast name. if your gonna mention someone at least try to get it right ... shi(long i)vo
shareI thought it was a very good episode as well. The camera stuff (the entry team close-ups) were...different. I didn't think they added a lot but it didn't bother me, you have to try different stuff from time to time. Plus...I loved the Fairbanks line. I rewatched that several times. Six years in and I think that is the first time they have done a "shout-out" to RM's time on Northern Exposure. Great stuff. Very solid season so far.

Somehow I missed this episode when it first aired - just watched it - my DVR picked it up this week.
That said, I began watching Northern Exposure sometime around Christmas - I had never seen it before, and I began out of curiosity because I like Numb3ers -
And THAT said, when Don cracked about Fairbanks, I genuinely laughed out loud - I was wondering when they'd at least reference NE!
It has been a few years but I'm watching "NUMB3RS" again on DVD and if this is the episode about the little girl 'clone' - I love the guest star 'Professor/doctor' working with Charlie (and company) on this - he teaches at the same college, and is asked to help out because of his knowledge about cloning, etc. He was so much fun!
