Stupid action by 'smart' US Attorney (episode Checkmate)

Spoilers for the episode Checkmate. You have been warned.




So Robin, Don's ex-girlfriend and Assistant US Attorney, is in a hotel under FBI protection after a death threat. The assassin gets into the hotel room (strike #1 showing poor security measures) and attacks the agent on guard duty. He manages to warn Robin to run (that's a plus) and also calls for assistance. Robin manages to get out to a back stairway somewhere and exits the building. So where does she run?? Down a dark pier to where some boats are moored. In the dark. Duh, she just came out of a hotel, and it's evening. Why not just run around to the hotel lobby where there are LIGHTS and PEOPLE?? And TELEPHONES??

Geez. Usually this show does a decent job of people doing rational things, but this one... that just astounded me.
