Duck on a first date?

I can only think of four valid reasons that you would serve duck on a first date:

1) You are a gourmand and want to show off your signature canard dish,
2) You are a hunter and you shot the duck yourself,
3) You are aware in advance that duck is your date's favorite dish, or
4) You are a pretentious douche who is trying way too hard.

Sure, there are probably rural areas or culturally diverse areas where duck is a more common food (similar to rabbit), but not in LA.

And, yes, I do get that it was done for comedic purposes.

I am binge watching so I don't recall which episode (Or even which season. My best guess is early in Season 2.). Papa Epps invites a woman home for dinner on a blind/first date. I believe she is set up with him by a mutual friend that knows her through yoga. The whole thing is a disaster for so very many reasons; they are completely incompatible (one has to wonder if their mutual friend was just messing with them by setting them up together to begin with.). He makes roast duck for dinner. Don stumbles upon their date and asks his father whether the woman even likes duck. Father goes and asks "Do you like duck?" She responds something in the order of "Oh, I love ducks! I have two named..."
