Where can one see the 'unaired pilot'?

Usually these things (unaired pilots, that is) can be found SOMEWHERE online (either to view or download).

Can't seem to find this one.

Wikpedia says that CLIPS of the unaired pilot are on the season one DVD (I was surprised that the entire episode was not mentioned as being on it).

Any ideas?

I've been looking for the same thing. I see no one answered here. Did you happen to get any responses any other way? I'd love to watch it and see how it compares.

reply

I watched the clips of the unaired pilot. I think it looked like a completely different show, I'm glad they made the changes.

I don't think the unaired pilot is available anywhere. I was hoping it would be included on the S6 DVD set, but I suppose the budget precluded that.

Judging from the clips shown on the DVD, the pilot that did air seems to have included small but pivotal changes from the original unaired pilot.

yes, small but pivotal...like charlie's hair :)

I have the complete series package, region 1. At the 1st season, 4th disc, Special Features, there is 'point of origin: inside the unaired pilot'.
It's not the full episode, just scenes with the commentaries from Nick, Cheryl, etc, about it. Mostly comparing both pilots. We can see the actors, and some crucial interaction. No family chemistry at all.
I don't know if the full unaired pilot is available. :)

The unaired pilot is not available anywhere. And for good reason. It came out terribly.

Fortunately, CBS gave us the chance to shoot the pilot again. We were able to make the important cast changes (though I still miss Michael Rooker very much) and we tweaked the story considerably ... though it is essentially the same story.

The only thing worthwhile about the unaired pilot is Tony Scott's (RIP) amazing editing job he did to save the show in terms of its premise and marketability.

You can see a clear example of his work if you watch the opening credit sequence from seasons one and two. That was done by Tony and his post crew.

While you can see clips of the Tony Scott edited version of the unaired pilot, no one will ever see a frame of the original pilot before Tony got a hold of it.

Well, I'm glad that CBS allowed you to re-shoot the pilot. It would have been sad if Numb3rs would have never gotten the chance.
