more eye for an eye
In the original, they wanted five victims for the original five victims. Makes sense. In this one, there are countless victims from the ship. And they just want one descendant of each of the four original perpetrators, and a few as collateral damage. They should've increased their body count goal respectively. Imagine how scary if the village had lost a hundred of their population that night. Would've made sense, since remakes general try to hit a larger scale, ie Elizabeth's backstory, longer run time, etc. Though I think that also hurt it, the modern need to expand and have backstory. Resulted in little sidequests like Elizabeth trying to solve that hallmark. Guess that stems from living in the information age where we needs answers to everything and generally they're more readily available.
