'The voice that launched a thousand ships'

Yes, if someone would invade an island to put someone with an ounce of personality in her voice on the radio instead.

I saw the quote and my first thought was "they were all trying to get away from her boring, cliche ridden, hackneyed non radio friendly voice."

The story was so bad its barely worth noting but the acting was even worse and the CGI was equally boring. Like the recent remake of the Thing, the combined total of this is a really crap movie-how carpenter held his nose long enough to be involved with this is beyond me.

Well put.

No doubt - I don't buy her as a DJ for one second! And "platters that matter"? Do any radio stations actually play records anymore? I thought she said bladders that matter - lol. For a supposed DJ she doesn't enunciate. Had to turn on the caption to figure it out.

Pretty sure they don't play them anymore. They play just the singles that they're paid to promote.

I think the movie is supposed to be set during 1971 (if you ignore the rampant modern stuff that is). So I guess it would still be records.

Lol, above, I thought that they were running away, too!

As a former long time radio program director who hired and fired hundreds, I would not have hired her. NOBODY says "platters" anymore. I never said it even when it was popular. She doesn't play vinyl either. The scriptwriter must be around 80. If it wasn't for the fact that she owned the station, she would only be the custodian. She was even worse than Clint Eastwood in "Play Misty For Me" and he was abominable on the air.
