I have had it that way. What's better is warm homemade applesauce with chunks of Tillamook cheddar - comfort food, I tell you!

It's unconventional, yes, but it's not like the food pairing doesn't work. What'll be next, fish meat in tacos?!?!

My mother and some of my relatives used to have a slice of cheese with their apple pie (they were of the WWII generation). It's definitely a combination that was popular "back in the day" but not so much anymore.

I grew up expecting cheese to be on pizza, sandwiches, tacos, etc, so it seemed really gross to put it on a dessert item like apple pie. But to each his own. If you like to eat two things together...eat them!
