I honestly like this newer remake better than the 1988 original.

Idk Maybe it's cause I saw this one first, but I feel as if this one is more exciting and full of energy. Plus Nikki Blonsky and Zac Efron were amazing.

The old version is ok too, but doesn't beat this one.

Nothing wrong with liking what you like!

And yeah, the musical is probably a better film by any rational standard, but it still owes everything to the original.
