Just saw it again. It really is underrated.
It's so well shot, well acted, and FUN. I know it's a remake, and I think that's why a lot of people give it short shrift, but they nailed it here. The entire cast (even poor Amanda Bynes) was at the top of their game.
I'm not really a Travolta fan, but he pulled this off. This is not a gimmick performance. He was committed.
It was nice to get reacquainted with the score by Shaiman and Wittman. It's one of the best scores in Broadway history.
Zac Efron can move in tomorrow.
Nikki! A star. I wish she could get another part like this.
Queen Latifah, Chris Walken, ELIJAH KELLY (see: Zac Efron), all of them.
A very overlooked movie musical. It's hard to believe Oscar didn't acknowledge them at all. The costumes and sets alone are spot-on.
I saw this on Broadway and Mr. Shankman's version of this musical oozes with craft and love.
Anyone reading this, who's never seen it, SEE IT.
It will put you in a very happy mood.
It's a musical with real bite. I'm not going to compare it to Fosse's "Cabaret", exactly, but it is surprisingly resonant, and it it will make you think. In a good way.
I saw it at Stonewall here in NYC.
Where it all BEGAN!
