Why is the star of the movie listed 11th in the credits??

Why is the actress who plays Tracy credited in the 11th spot in the IMDB credits?? She is obviously the star, leading lady...is that because her name isn't as well known as the rest???

That is exactly why. It doesn't seem right considering she had the lead role, but I guess she would have to pay her dues in order to get that top billing.

The actual reason is that her billing on the film is the traditional large "And Introducing Nikki Blonsky as Tracey Turnblad". However Imdb don't state that and just list names in credit order.

Except in the NBC live version Maddie B. got top billing. Not because she was the star of the show, but because the credits were listed alphabetically and her last name began with a B.
