John Travolta - love him or hate him?

I liked john Travolta as Edna. He was so funny and could still dance in a fat suit.

Hate him (in this). I am a huge fan of the original and whilst this movie is so different to the original (probably because it was based on the stage show rather than the 80s film) I still thought he was the weakest link in this movie. John Revolta.

I loved him in the movie.

Wasn't keen on him the first time I saw it. But the more I've watched it the more I've grown to like him. He owns the role and sometimes I even forget it's him

And he proved during the finale that - even with a fat suit - he could still dance

Everyone is amazing. I've never seen the stage show, only the original (which I hold dear). I expected to hate the movie when it came out as I thought it would be a cheap knock off of the Waters' classic. However, it's handled so well and with so much fun and positivity that it's hard to dislike it. As for Travolta, I loved him. A great entertainer. His chemistry with Queen Latifa, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken and Nikki Blonski is sublime.

Travolta's take on Edna was very different than Divine's or Fierstein's. They went for the bombastic "Big Mama" characterization. Travolta played a lot more heavily (no pun intended) on insecurity and self-consciousness. His Edna is intimidated by the world, and it's a valid slant on the role.

Love him. Loved him in Saturday Night Fever. Loved him in Grease. Loved him in Pulp Fiction. Loved him way back in Mr. Kotter's classroom. Love him so much I even forgive him for being a Scientologist. Really loved him in Micheal the Nasty Angel, errrr, I mean Michael. Loved him in this.
