1. yes. the pictures in the vault, the pics on his computer and the fact that he was hunting for a 14 year old that looked way younger, plus his choice of suicide over getting exposed.
the mass rape and killing of donna mauer involved multiple people. not sure about hayley's original research, we don't get any info on that, but she put at least one other guy through the same treatment that jeff had to go through.
2. no, that was faked.
3. it is not a vigilante movie. there is no black and white. jeff is a pedo, hayley is a psycho. there are multiple layers to the film. one being that the film shows us our own hypocrisy. we feel sorry for jeff. why? because he is handsome, educated and charming. he charms us, like he charms his victims, but at one point, the facade starts to break. would we feel the same way if he was a disgusting pig, like we imagine those people to be? clearly not. and that's for for starters.

That's EXACTLY what I've been saying since day 1, he's supposedly 'good looking' so oh, everybody feels sorry for him, Hayley torturing him is WORSE than raping and murdering a 14 year old, he MUST be innocent, it MUST be a mistake, a misunderstanding, even though he's guilty he can't REALLY be a pedophile, get a 300 pound bald guy with a crappy complexion and scars and see if anyone questions his guilt then.

Very well put. I felt in the end that they were as bad as each other. Sympathies switched back and forth.
It's very unusual to have a film place a young girl in such a position of power over a grown man and sustain it for most of the movie. Slowing things down and avoiding the usual cat-and-mouse violence meant there was time for reflection upon the questions raised.
1-Yes. The pictures in the vault, he groomed her online, wanted to take pictures of her, and he confesses at the end when he's talking to himself. 2-No. 3-In my opinion it is a vigilante film in a less traditional sense.
