If the genders were switched, would the movie have worked?

I was wondering, with some of the recent stories in the news, of female predators going after underage boys (at least some that I have read recently), what if the movie had a 14 year old boy, do all this to a female sexual predator in her 30s?

Would the movie be more ahead of it's time and therefore good, or would this be bad or too hard to accept?

i would prefer watching that, since it's such a double standard

Maybe the reason it won't work and hasn't often been tried is because men are the primary sources of sexual offenses and maybe men are able to do more physical and psychological damage in such cases?

that's bullshyt and sexist...i was sexually assaulted by a woman and that did a lot of damage on me. the real problem is that people in general give good looking people passes. and in a lot of cases these women are decent looking (for teachers)

Sorry to hear it.

So I take it society just doesn't know then how to properly react and deal with such situations?

But my comment was more on why in movies it is seen OK as to portray one's scenarios and not the other, and I was just theorizing on it in a way that is convenient and makes sense, without having too much controversial arguments around it.

You said "society gives" passes and Iattempted to theorize on WHY society MAY does it, without ever trying to say that such society is right.

Then again, in our very flawed and far from perfect world, most of such existant civilized measures don't exactly deter men from committing such major offenses EITHER, and I read a lot online how society is often either ignorant or indifferent in some circles THERE as well.

I also have to say that I often find arguments in gender reversal cases where the perpetrator's good looks are brought up as opposed to an absence of such, and where people make such arguments as "oh but if she looks good then it isn't as bad etc" to be so childish, that I am often tempted to say "Let's leave childishness to a kindergarten please".

There's also one film I am going to watch soon that deals exactly with THAT kind of subject matter and its called "The Abduction of Zack Butterfield" (2011) and it involves a gorgeous chick who kidnaps a 14 year old male teenager.

P.S. Do most people find it rather sad that we live in a world where most ordinary people have no empathy? And do you feel that life is worth living still despite those problems? How exactly DO you cure an "ill society", given that merely talking about it and recognizing that it exists, plus pointing fingers at it, does nothing to solve the problem, and laws don't exactly work 100% either?

Shameless (US) actually sheds light on this double standard with an episode centered around an adult woman listed as a registered sex offender for having sec with one of her 14 yr old students. She claims it was love but when Lip investigates further he finds out that she has an obsession with underage children and manipulates their innocence. It does happen and Shameless did a great job of portraying while maintaining its dramedy roots. I think it's a topic that has been executed well done through Shameless, it's important to note both sides of this topic though being serious and neither of them can be regarded as anything less than violent and wrong.

But then there are some really intelligent know it alls out there who will come in here screaming about how there is a major difference between a male sex offender sexually abusing someone pre-teen and how some gorgeous cheerleader chick is sleeping with some 16 year old lucky male even if the law says its not allowed and ultimately wouldn't they be right?

(And I'm not even saying I disagree with them or think they're wrong - well, not yet anyways, but its really amazing how some people here have enough bravery in them to even TALK about these things and speak CONFIDENTLY about not only injustices but CONTRADICTIONS out there in humanity, and some of them agree with double standards becase they believe under some circumstances, some deeds are less hamrful than others and yes there are different degrees of sexual offenses.)
