I think you might enjoy Susheela Raman's music, if you like this music. Try Salt Rain or Love Trap, both are great albums.. She is Tamili, sings in Hindi, Tamil and English. The film's soundtrack immediately made me think of her music.

I love the song, so I'd like to share the song with you.
You can directly download the song from below link.
But I strongly suggest if you really like the movie and the songs, please, buy the CD from the Internet music stores.

does any one have any idea why a saudi arabian song was chosen for the theme of this movie?

reply

In the commentary director Kim explains that he has always loved this song and has wanted to use it before in his other movies, but that the producers opposed the idea, fearing it was too foreign and might put off domestic audiences. This time, he had his own production company and was free to do as he pleased.

Natacha Atlas is from Egypt-English descent, born in Brussels and moved to London. She sings a kind of 'Arab' music, adaptations of popular french songs, etc...

I think the gafsa song is in big contrast with the more 'up-tempo' songs of her. Well, the rest of her album, halim, is not my style , at any case...
