Did anybody else find it weird that...

...all of the vacationing families changed their voice mail/answering machine messages to inform callers that they were out of town? Is this really that common of a practice? Common enough to where every household in the film does it?

Great film but that little element seems forced to me.

The protagonist didn't irrupt many houses in the film. He was looking for inhabited houses, that's the point of leaving a flyer in doors and checking the next day, also the answering machine. I don't know how common is the practice in South Korea, but since people over there has a better education, i guess it's much more common than in western society. At least that's what i would do if i went on vacations. So i don't find it weird at all, i didn't even notice while watching the movie.

I asked myself the same question, though I still loved the movie.
Ill ask a Korean friend of mine about it!
