seriously, she's madea's granddaughter

so her old ass momma thats in the nursing is madea's daughter. really now? smh. this is why i cant get into tyler perry movies. how madea look younger than her daughter?

reply

i GUESS when madea was like, 25 she married a older man, about 60 years old, that already had kids. so she is not biologically madea's granddaughter. is that what it is?

OR it could just be that one woman aged better than the other. Mytle (the mother) seemed to not be as ... 'fluid' as Madea.

It happens all the time. I know of several instances where the adult children need to be cared for by their parents.

In this situation, with his money, Charles had Myrtle 'put' into a Nursing Home. For all we know, it may be Assisted Living or some other arrangement.

Helen is a relation of Madea's ex-husband. So i would assume that Myrtle is not her daughter. Did they even say Madea was Helen's grandmother? I know in the play she's supposed to be but the movie is so different from the play when it comes to characters (which i why i hate seeing the movies since i've seen all the plays way b4 the movies were made).

thats what i figured. and yeah, in the movie helen and madea make several references to being grandmother and granddaughter. when helen is kicked out in the beginning, banging on madea's door she screams "its your granddaughter!" when madea has the gun. but i guess them not being a direct relation, or biologically family, makes sense, even tho that is not mentioned in the movie from my knowledge.

Saw another poster gave answer but to give better info ~ Helen is Madea's granddaughter through her husbands family. Could also be assumed that Madea is just a great aunt ... whom Helen accepted as a grandmother.

If you recall ... Joe does several things to showcase that Helen and her mother are not related to their side. From when Helen first appears in home he tells Madea that she's not related to him but to her. Then when Helen's mom appears ... Joe tries to flirt with her. Now if that was really his niece that would cause more oh's and ah's from viewers.

*Madea's family tree is a tricky one because the characters changed from plays/movies. So it's never easy to determine who is related to whom.

My wife is probably better versed on Tyler Perry's universe of characters, but I was paying attention to those details in this movie.

Helen and Madea did refer to each other as grandmother and granddaughter.

Helen's mother was never referred to as Madea's daughter.

Madea called Joe her brother.

When Joe made sexual references to Helen, Madea scolded him that she was "his family". Joe also made a viagra joke to Helen's mother.

In order to avoid any incest on Joe's part, I would conclude that Helen and her mother were from Madea's husband, but Madea was a step-mom, no blood relation, but she was the one who was there in the home.

Yeah. I found that weird too, but I think that Madea's son was married ot Helen's mother so that's how it's her granddaughter... or something like that!
