Airplane movies are the best!
The actual plot of this movie isn't the most compelling but there's just something magical about the airplane/airport setting to me. I'll admit to being a big fan of airports and airplanes in real life but airplanes are also the perfect setting for a contained thriller like Red Eye. On an airplane you're surrounded by strangers in a very small space and there's no getting out of there if things take a turn for the worse since you're literally up in the sky (which makes for great opportunities for cinematographers btw). It's just such a strange situation to be in, even in real life if you think about it. Red Eye makes this especially clear I think since the interplay between McAdams and Murphy while on the plane is by far the best part of this movie.
