Bill gets shot, which is kind of out of nowhere, but the three wives have happy endings. Barb takes on a religious role as priesthood holder like she's always wanted (or at least she has always wanted to have a voice), Nikki finds security in her family when it seems like it could always fall apart, and Margene goes on cruises to help the needy to put her adventurous spirit to good use, though she is still very much a part of the family.
