So, Margene and Ben never end up together?

In a way I feel like what was the point of them? But, then I realized that they added that storyline in order for Margene can see the life she could've had or still have if she ever decided to leave Bill. I just re-watched the series on HBOGO and these two had a lot of chemistry. Like DAMN!

Also that scene where Margene was in the kitchen trying to reach for the hot coco mix, where Ben helps her and his pajama shirt rides up and she sees a bit of skin. You can clearly see her inner battle and desperation on her face. And the scene where they both come clean to Douche-Bill, where Ben and Margene make eye contact and he says that it was nothing but a simple crush and that it was over. The pain her face!

If they never ended up together? Then why add that storyline? I mean I get it, Margene was only a child when she married. And Ben, I guess was what could've been or still be if chose to leave Bill.

I share your pain. I, for one, LOVE Douglas Smith's portrayal of Ben. But I think people have to realise that even in polygamy there are temptations (and I know I sound like a crazy religious person) but what 'could've been' was seen as morally wrong in both parties.

But I do get what you mean - I would've actually liked to see a secret affair/relationship on the sidelines. That would've been pretty interesting.

I don't think the writers ever wanted to really take the story that way. I think they only did the little with them that they did because they felt some pressure from the fans.

But personally I was upset that they did not end up together. They had great chemistry. At the very least I wish the writers wrote an extended affair between the two. All we got was a little kiss and then the whole thing was pretty much over. I wish for a season or half a season we got to see them in some sort of secret relationship.

So much word to all of this!

He had a crush on her for so long and right when she started to feel the same the writers pulled the plug on them. Like, they can write in controversial pairings like Greg/CaraLynn but not something which was cooking for four seasons?! As fans, you'd expect some kind of pay-off, otherwise it's just bad storytelling. They didn't even resolve it properly, I mean Bill saving Ben's life in desertland is supposed to make everything go away, talk about calling the contrivance fairy!

If you want a LITTLE plotline resolution, here's Margie and Ben dancing in a webisode that went along with season five. I think this happens around episode 5.06 since Margie's talking about the "d" word (Barb and Bill's divorce),. At least we now know that they still aren't above busting a move with each other! This is kind of their last scene.
