'Big Love'- As Good as it Gets

HBO is starting to re-air the first season of 'Big Love'. I hadn't thought about this series in a while, but re-watching it makes me realize what a superb piece this is.

Its a brilliant character study, and multiple episodes and seasons allow for a rich development. The cast is just fantastic, and these performances are haunting, especially the female ones. Chloe Sevigny is just magnificent, and steals the show, pulling off one of the most complex characters I've ever seen. DaVeigh Chase is phenomenol as the underage bride Rhonda Volmer.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZegnocvoBU

Harry Dean Stanton is a godsend, one of the great American actors of our time.

In the end, I think its more of a study of modern versus traditional gender relations than it is about parodying LDS.

'Big Love' represents the very best possibility of what a cable television series can hope to achieve. What an amazing gift this is.
