Rank the main characters

I liked all the wives, but I have to say Nicki was my favorite. Alby was also an interesting and complex character. Loved watching him.

1. Nicki
2. Alby
3. Barb
4. Margene
5. Lois
6. Bill
7. Ben
8. Don

I really liked Sarah, but since she wasn't in the last season I didn't put her on the list.

For some reason I love Barb. Then I pretty much like Margie & Nicki equally even though Nicki pisses me off A LOT sometimes.

I think Nicki in her way was the most complex. By her dress and habits, she never rejected at all the culture of the compound. She had a foot in both worlds, till the end. It's like she disagreed with her father and brother's running of the compound, but she more or less agreed with all of its underpinnings. To think like that, live in open society, and never compromise her behavior to fit in, was pretty amazing.

One of my favourite characters was Joey. In my mind he was a man of much more integrity than Bill. Quite under-rated I thought.

Someone tasted my tongue and told me I tasted like the color crimson with a faint of violet.

Nicki was the most complex...like when her deep terror at being exposed would surface.

Adaline made me laugh.

Cathy was very sweet, but kind of in the background. Wanda began to get on my nerves, eventually. (I didn't realize it was the same girl from Magnolia!!!)

I could have done with less Lois....and that dad/husband made me feel like I desperately needed a shower.

Margene was my favorite, I watched the show cause I love Ginnifer Goodwin and I liked her the best. She had a big heart and she was funny and adorable. I liked Barb in the beginning, but she ended up getting on my nerves more and more as the seasons went on. I'm not very religious, and she was very into religion so it just turned me off a bit. Nikki, while is a total bitch and so whiny and pissed me off multiple times I actually really liked. She was very complex and the actress did a great job. So the wives for me went

1. Margene
2. Nikki
3. Barb

I also liked Sarah, Ana and Pam and found Alby and Adeleen interesting.

Bill was really annoying and sexist, Don was a big baby (even though I felt bad for him with a lot of the crap Bill made him do) and Benny annoyed me a lot.

But Margene was my favorite:)

Here's what I don't get about the show: Bill, Margene and Barb all say they love Nicki. Why? She's horrid. There's nothing about her to love.

Good question. And in a way, it underlies the main difficulty I have with this show. Almost all of the main protagonist characters are petty, selfish, egotistical hypocrites, and it makes it hard to really like any of them, so my list focuses mainly on the supporting characters. Having said that, it's good when a character can be so evil that you end up hating the character. In that sense, Roman Grant is totally hate-able, so I'd put him at the top of the list. Next, I'd rate Lois way up there -- not so much because she's hate-able (once you get to know her, anyway), but because she's so damn interesting. Similarly, Frank is just so totally irascible I'd have to include him as well. And finally, Wanda. She was about the only one I could really relate to. She saw despicable people, and did something about it. She seemed to be the most genuine and honest, emotionally anyway. (And I guess, in her own way, Heather was pretty cool, for a Morbot, that is.)

And last but not least...I have always been a big fan of Chloe Sevigny and the tough, challenging roles she takes on.

Love isn't what you say or how you feel, it's what you do. (The Last Kiss)
