Just started watching...

I watched about four episodes in one sitting (which is really difficult to do given how long each episode is). Will someone please tell me that Nicki gets more likable? Because at this point (four episodes in), I really, seriously can't stand her or her b!tchy attitude.

Would/could/should have or would/could/should've... Not would/could/should of.

Nicki is always a bit like that, but as the show goes along, starting a few episodes from the end of season one, we get to see how protective she is of the family and how much she does care for barb, margene, and bill.

She is fine.
She is a loveable b!itch. She is very passionate and caring for her family, but unfortunately doesn't show.

reply

She never gets likeable; she's way too damaged for that.
But she does earn some respect and some sympathy, and comes through for the family almost as often as she causes trouble.

Nikki will always get on your nerves, she just does incredibly stupid and thoughtless things.. But she's not really a bad person. You eventually feel sympathy for her towards the ending seasons and realize she went through a lot with a messed up Juniper Creek family that made her that way.

Although she stays pretty unlikeable throughought the show, you'll start to like her character for being so icy and deceitful. Her character is, to me, the key to the entire show. If Bill hadn't married her , none of the show would matter. I loved her all along- she can't help herself- but her evolvement in later seasons makes you at least understand her shrillness to the point of excusing her for it.

I couldn't agree more. I'm at the same spot (about S1E4 and straight up can't stand that bitch! But every show needs someone to hate :) of course I can't wrap my head around the whole polygamy thing. Hell one wife drives me nuts half the time (and I'm sure she'd say the same about me lol), I can't imagine dealing with 3+! I guess I was brought up to share that devotion with one person so maybe I'd see it differently had I been brought up in a polygamous environment.

So in the very next episode, Nikki runs her brother Albert off and I can see where you can begin to like her even though she's so mean! She definitely protects her family with equal ferocity!

Nicki was the best written character, IMO. She's a very grey character. She never gets "likable" per se, but she has some redeeming qualities. I couldn't stand her when the show was on, but on re-watch, she started to grow on me. In fact, the other wives are just as hypocritical and self righteous in their own manner, they're just more subtle about it. And don't even get me started on Bill lol.
