Tommy's Personality....

Here's my take: In his mind, because of his simplistic nature, he's just doing his job. He's working to support his family just like he did until the slaughterhouse closed. He made the masks because he knew he was different from his family & he just wanted to look like he belonged. I also don't think he ever actually TRIED to scare anyone. He didn't taunt them, torture them just for fun, & he only chased them to catch them. That was simply his job in the family.

That's why the ending of this one bugged me so much. He hid in the back seat of the car & waited a few minutes before killing her. This makes no sense, given everything we know about him. I just feel like that isn't something his character would do.

Thoughts?

Dunno. That seemed inconsistent to me too, not to mention my own personal question of how the heck he got into that back seat so fast. I don't know if they were trying to show that he's become more cunning. If so, they went about it all wrong, but it was unnecessary to begin with.

Good question, & also how did he even fit into that back seat? He's huge, & had a huge chainsaw, & he somehow even managed to duck down enough that she wouldn't see him right away. Even if he was sitting up, waiting patiently for her to start the car & haul out of there, WHY??? I hate to see an otherwise decent movie end on a cliche that doesn't even make sense. At least we got to see Jordanna Brewster look convincingly scared for the very first time, lol.

A problem with this series is that Leatherface isnt really well developed. In the original hes essentially a scared little boy defending his home and whos at the mercy of his cruel family. This film provides little to no motivation for his actions or those of his family.

I disagree. Ripping the skin off Eric's arms? What purpose did that serve?
