A TV Series?
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film is often dismissed my many as "torture porn". To many critics it is a film unworthy of their attention. But, looking in to the film in a deeper sense, illuminates a brutally fantastic depiction of many issues of the 1970s. Issues which are still rampant in the 21st century.
Jonathan Liebesman attempted to tell the origins of the cannibal family in 2006's (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning). A, for the most part, poor film. With the exception of R. Lee Ermey's charter of Sheriff Hoyt.
Unfortunately, no professional attempt to cover the back story of everyone's favorite family of cannibals has been told on the screen. A subject with much potential.
One way to cover the origin of the family would be a TV series. With a skilled director at the helm, the Texas Chainsaw story could be told in a way which is respectful to the original. To touch on my earlier point, the series could also illuminate some of those issues depicted in the original, through a 21st century lense.
