Better than the Remake? I certainly do think so.

I personally love both films Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003) & Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Beginning but out of the two I prefer the latter of the two here's why?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Beginning gave us more depth with Thomas Hewitt & the family. The film had a better and more interesting reason of why the characters are put in the terror scenario they got themselves in.The torture the film brought on the victims was more creative.Plus this film has a fantastic ending.

But however the Remake has a few things going for in it's favor a Better looking Leatherface & likable victims.

This film also has the Honor of being the last good Texas Chainsaw Massacre film as Texas Chainsaw 3D was a complete disaster.

Overall I like Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Beginning is a better film with less by the numbers stuff although it still has a few but that's forgivable sense it's a slasher film.

TCM(2003) 4/5
TCM:The Beginning 5/5

Tell me what you think and please do discuss.

I certainly agree. The remake was good, but didn't really do anything for me. The Beginning had more character details with the family, a darker atmosphere, and a completely bleak ending that worked perfectly (why can't we have more movies where the bad guys win?). The death and gore scenes were much better to say the least, with the unrated version actually being the NC-17 version. Not the best horror movie by any means, but still a fun watch.

Great reason's that I agree with.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003) has kind of bland still a pretty good film although bland but Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Beginning had a lot more energy to it.The ending blew me away I love seeing the bad guy win in films just look at Halloween(78) and how good that it is.This certainly not a best Horror film but it's probably is up their as the best from the franchise.
I love your response.

Agreed. Much better film, although I do enjoy the remake as well.

I agree with you. This one has better characters all around I think (deeper depth into the family and more likable teenage characters). This is an actual brutal chainsaw massacre too, I think this ones much more brutal than the remake. It's funny though because you praise the ending but my only gripe with the movie is the ending lol. Okay, I'll admit I was upset that chrissie died because j liked her but besides that- the way they killed her felt like a cop out to me. Leatherface hiding in the backseat, waiting for her to drive down the rod before popping up, him fitting in the back unnoticed and a lot of other things wth the scene didn't sit right with me. I agree with you though that this one is better than the remake.

I agree. Although the remake is one of the best as far as horror remakes go, this movie is even better.

Your title is confusing. Do you realize these are the remakes? Anyway, I do agree. I don't like the 2003 one that much because I constantly blame Erin for the group being put in the situation they are in.

With the beginning, though, they are just trying to get somewhere and are attacked. I wish they wouldn't censor and edit things out for television reasons though because for first-time viewers it makes no sense why that biker is after them.....actually, it never sense. He asked her what she wanted and she said everything. Um, what?

I slightly prefer the 2003 film. Both these platinum dunes TCM flicks are great.
