'Lost' down the hatch shot.

Anyone else think that the composition of the shot towards the end of the film where a cover is lifted on a Japanese shaft/tunnel by the two marines is a nod in the direction of the TV series "Lost" (which would have aired a year or two before, and of course also set on an island)

ie the classic shot (held for a few seconds) of John Lock and Jack Sheppard peering down the hatch and the camera, positioned down the shaft, pointing up to the sky framing the two characters in question?

At least two of us jumped and said the same thing the moment this scene came up in the movie.

I'm sure it is -- Clint Eastwood is a two-bit hack and has made a career out of copying TV shows.

Or maybe not... Lost wasn't the first time someone used a shot like that. Check out Kurosawa's "Red Beard" for starters.

Learn to read, man. Then again, sarcasm doesnt fully translate into text, but nevertheless, the full post frames the idea pretty well,so you have no excuse, unless you stopped reading after the first sentence ..... ...

Whats the point of having a signature? Only absolute losers have them...
