Watched this last night on UK TV. I must have turned away and missed a bit but then saw about 4 men in a cave, they seemed to have been blown up, but not sure. I couldn't tell if they were Japanese or US soldiers. What happened and who were they ? thanks. Jean
share.. Japanese soldiers that had blown themselves up rather than surrender. There is a much discussed scene in the companion film Letters from Iwo Jima that also shows a small group of troops in a cave killing themselves with grenades at the urging of an officer.
