Disney Forces Lee To End Eastwood Feud

Disney bosses have forced Spike Lee to call a truce with Clint Eastwood after their war of words, fearing the bad publicity would cost his new movie Oscar nominations.

Lee hit out at Eastwood for failing to include black characters in his two 2006 Second World War movies Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima.

The veteran star struck back, telling Lee to "shut his mouth", prompting Lee to take a second swipe, calling Eastwood "an angry old man."

But Lee has backed down after executives at Disney - the studio backing his new war movie Miracle at St.Anna - stepped in.

He tells Entertainment Weekly, "I get the thing, 'Well Mr Eastwood is so well beloved,' and this may have ramifications at Academy time.

"But it's over. I said what I had to say. He believes what he believes. And that's that."

"Marty. Y'know what we got here? MF'n Charlie Bronson. Mr. Majestyk!"

personally I don't think a director should tell another director he's not got enough black people in his film, love clint's reply, of all the people to attack

what gets me though is Disney "forcing" him to back down, what is he, some kind of uncle tom character? (had to read "uncle toms cabin" before I understood what that meant exactly) did they really force him or is it just the media building it up?

Lee's grandstanding did him no favours.

Its that man again!!

If Spike would make an actual quality movie that wasn't so race-based, perhaps his movies might sit up & take notice. I think we can all agree that Eastwood's movies are much better, & as a director Eastwood has Spike beat by a long shot. What's the last hit movie Spike directed? Malcolm X was probably the last quality movie he made that people paid any attention to. Even though i have never watched any of his other movies other than Summer of Sam, which was pretty good but not oscar material, who the hell is Spike Lee to criticize Clint Eastwood or tell him how to do his job.

Spike Lee made a couple very good movies, but he is also a huge racist, like many, many blacks.

Hey, Goomba, where do you get off making this statement? How many racist blacks do you know, Mr. Race Expert?
May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?

So far my favorite Spike Lee trash talking episode was with Samuel L. Jackson. Lee was going off about Tarantino being a racist as per usual & Jackson came back with: "At least he's made a decent movie this decade."

I've always been a fan of Jackson on screen, but this sort of cinched Jackson for me. It's better than simply telling Lee to drop his racist crap, it was hysterical & straight to the point. For all his popularity & brass he's really only made a couple of decent movies.

One can only wish that Eastwood would have been as beautifully blunt.

"Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop."
