Russian Full Metal Jacket

i'm a person obssessed with russian culture, music, weapons and history so i bought this movie

somehow this movie doesn't make me feel "russian" somehow....were the producers inteded to "westernize" this movie in order to be nominated in oscar best foreign language film? if so this is a bad move...feels more like a russian version of full metal jacket...

In what way mate?,i thought the weapons the uniforms were really good, also they showed the brutal side of russian millitary training,we all know a lot of bullying goes on there, they kind of showed how hard the trainers were,i really enjoyed it.

Actually that's exactly what I thought. 9th Company felt like a Russian version of Full Metal Jacket.

You have the hair trimming scene in FMJ, plus the handing in of their personal gear in 9thC, the hard-ass drill instructor, basic training, you could even compare their praise of Snow White to the Mickey Mouse Club song at the end of FMJ.

Then they actually go off to fight in Vietnam/Afganistan, socialise with the locals on some occassions, the friendship between the troops and the intense combat 9thC when they're defending Hill 3234 and in FMJ when the Lusthog squad are trying to get the sniper.

I think there are some classics which you can't stay without getting affected. This film's first part is Full Metal Jacket, second part is Platoon.
