Shameless promotion of this movie...awful

Looking aside from the quality of the film. Has anyone seen the previews for this?

It's ridiculous how they promote it.

Afghanistan, the land never conquered, Men holding together against Ruthless Warlords, the Last Stand, etc, etc.

It's one thing to tell the story of the men who didn't want to be there, but the advertisements of this movie promote the idea of the Soviet Union and try to gloss over the ruthless invasion of the country. They even try to suggest that the Afghans were somehow a threat, unconquerable, etc.

Yeah...I'm sure they were while they were being mowed down from Soviet Helicopters while herding their sheep. The Russians were ruthless, killed hundreds of thousands of Afghans, openly executed them, planted mines all over the country that killed and maimed thousands of children and are still there to this day.

I laughed when I saw the preview. Content of the film aside, the promotion of it is wrong.

And the movie is terrible to top it off.

Just saw it.

Sorry, not good at all. Who the heck is voting this up?

Production value is low, unrealistic to the extreme. Dialogue just doesn't transfer to English from Russian. And the way they try to portray these youth as "a fight they didn't want" ------------- *THEY VOLUNTEERED*

I was hoping for a decent and honest film in memory of those who perished for nothing in the Afghan war. What a disappointment. Turns out this is the belated Russian response to Rambo 3.

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

I have much more respect for films that are being made about Iraq and Afghanistan now and the US involvement. It's very open, criticizes our being there, asks important questions, shows the thinking on both sides, etc.
