Why the hell doesn't the US get a release?

Good enough for a R2 UK release, the hell don't we get a nice normal, R1 release for us and our neighbours to the north?

*beep*

Probably because your Government doesn't want you to hear these words 'No one has ever succeeded in Afghanistan through out history. No one' from the mouth of a Russian instructor.

"There's only three kinds of suns in Kansas. Sunshine, sunflowers, and Son's of bitches"

reply

Our government doesn't restrict what we're able to watch. Unlike yours, perhaps?

- You're wrong. Sorry to ruin the ending for you.

reply

Doesn't it? Every other government in the world does to some extent, so interesting to hear that you live in some kind of utopian ideal state!

reply

You're a fool.

reply

Of course your government does not restrict what you are able to watch, you are the proof since you believe in such thing.

reply

Sure it doesn't, I have commented what I really thought on the patriotic movie "Patton" and the whole post here just vanished. There was not even "comment deleted" post left.

It is ridiculous to think that the Government has any control over what Americans get to see. If that was the case then why did Bush let Michael Moore release "Fahrenheit 9/11" at all, let alone in an election year? The probable cause was that American distributors didn't think it would make any money because they think Americans are not interested in seeing a movie about Russian soldiers.

reply

To the person that says that are government (US) doesn't control anything that we watch, then think real hard about it, because yes they do.

reply

Ya, the US is quite a distance from the top of any free-media lists and every one of its' various News networks is either biased for or against a political party or firmly rooted in a leftist or rightist stance. Bias is something that has no place in news, you either report the news as is or you're not a news network.

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground, try this sig with spinach!

reply

Are there any real NEWS networks left ?

reply

I saw the pre-views a long time ago and wanted to see this cause I'm a big fan of any war movies. For me it doesn't matter the side if the story is told right. Though I agree it wasn't marketed here casue why would most want to see a story about russians soldiers?

reply

*cough* rating system *cough* *cough* This Film Is Not Yet Rated *cough* *cough*

reply

Youtube is a highly disrespectful way to watch a well-shot movie like this one. *beep* Youtube for movies, it's for clips.

reply

08/31/2010 is release date. Four versions! Two BR, two DVDs. Pre-order at Amazon now.

reply

I guess the government decided it was OK after all.

*facepalm*

yeah its up on netflix..

The answer is simple: who knows? There are many very good Russian movies that never make it here. Perhaps because it does not have a naive happy end. Who knows.

However, you can download it as a bit torrent with English subtitles, no problem.
