What were the clones supposed to do?

In the episode where Brock gets the O.S.I. and Monarch to fight at the Venture Compound, Hank, Dean, Doc, and Sgt. Hatred are inside. Hank wants to go out into the fight but Doc points out that they are outnumbered. The boys say "Not we open our Christmas presents early" and they release their clones, sending them marching to battle along with Hatred. But what was the point of that? They had no weapons and didn't seem particularly strong or coordinated. Not to mention that it looked like there was only about 12 of them. What did they expect to happen?

Honestly I think that Doc just wanted rid of Hatred, and Hatred wanted to die with honor on a battlefield. I guess the whole idea was for them to be a makeshift army to follow Hatred to the grave.

Also, what was the music playing when the clones were marching with Hatred? I know I've heard it before. Is it "March of the Wooden Soldiers"?

No, that's not it. I think it's from "Babes in Toyland".

I always felt that they just didn't think it out all the way through. Of course they probably didn't count on an out-of-control spinning Monarch shooting lasers all over the place either.

Wasn't the scene where Hatred marches outside with the (nearly) naked clones a take on a scene from the movie Stripes?
