A prophetic line?

In the "The Incredible Mr. Brisby" episode, the female leader of the Orange County Liberation Front tells her husband/boyfriend co-leader that she did some kind of chart that reveals that they should begin new projects. Then comes this line "Plus, 'Cosmo' says orange is this year's black. That's a sign, right?". The only thing missing from the orange statement is the word "new", huh?

I think, judging by the subject matter of OitNB, it's just a coincidence.

I've heard that same statement about all sorts of colors. It's a big cliche in the fashion industry - "This season, ____ is the new black."

It's what led to people saying that any popular trend is "the new black."
