Just friends? I so wasn't expecting her to say that. When she said she had something she wanted to talk about with Ulrich, I thought Yumi was going to confess her feelings. Talk about irony.
But why would she say that? After all that.. The writers were leading me on!! I mean, I thought Yumi had it bad for Ulrich. Why did she want to be just friends?

I literally screamed out "NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" when she said that. I wanted to slap her soooooooo badly! I'm still a little bit mad at her...of course, that might just be a hormones talking...
But, anyways, I heard they had them break up before they got together for one reason and one reason only: Cartoon Network didn't like the fact that they were madly in love on a kid's show. Of course, that makes no sense at all! They have kissing scenes on Codename: Kids Next Door lots of times, but did anyone make them stop it? NOPE! And, of course, I've heard a rumor that Odd will be getting a steady girlfriend...and this is different than Yumi/Ulrich *how*?
I, personally, think that there's a conspiracy going on...

I doubt Cartoon Network is behind the current Yumi/Ulrich situation, considering there are examples of young love already on the network: Jeremie/Aelita, Robin/Starfire and BeastBoy/Terra on Teen Titans. So, the notion that CN would all of a sudden find a teen romance offensive lacks credibility at the moment.
I feel Yumi is scared that a relationship with Ulrich would ruin their friendship. It's a common ploy with friends who develop feelings for each other. It does make it interesting to watch, if painful for Ulrich. Truthfully, I think Yumi is being a coward about this. The beauty of love is the uncertainty. Besides, if Jeremie/Aelita can have a relationship, so can the main fighters of the group!

Did you see how Yumi reacted when Jeremie could have lost Ulrich forever? Anger, crying over the cherry soda can...she loves him! She needs to admit it! Now.

Shame that season three pretty much has them platonic, isn't it?
But I have to agree; it's nice to still have that tension there between them (even if it is painful for Ulrich and I feel bad for him..), because that keeps you watching the show.
Ulrich and Yumi are so totally in love with eachother. It is pathetic that she said that but she does have a piont. Ulrich was jealous of william even though he should have known she didn't like william (She only liked him as a friend). And she was jealous over sissy (ick). It was pretty annoying 2 season. But I think she is more afraid of getting hurt (how odd was dating two girls at once, she doesn't want that happening to her). Remeber these people were her first friends and she is always keeping herself locked up to keep from getting hurt. she is scared of that, like most girls are(me for one as well)

I personally think that the writers are trying to push Yumi and Ulrich away from a relationship. It might turn out with Ulrich being with Sissi and Yumi with William. But that's IMO, so yeah.

shareI KNOW!!!! i started the season on episode 67 so i actually didn't know about yumi and ulrich as a couple and was all like "Yumi and william would make a cute couple!!!!" now i fully regret that. william is all wrong 4 yumi. she needs someone willing 2 back off if she asked. william backed off, barely. and not completely. now william really pisses me off!!!!
shareWell, I think that other than the whole not-wanting-to-get-hurt and it-will-ruin-the-friendship excuses, Yumi might have also grown tired of waiting for Ulrich. I mean, he really was taking his time trying to gather up his thoughts about her before he did something he might regret. Also, Ulrich is quite shy and quiet so that might have also kept him away from telling her him feelings. I guess it all depends on how you look at it.
It would be cool if Yumi used girl power and she told Ulrich about her feelings and then Ulrich 'fessed up too, but it'd be more romantic for her if Ulrich said it!
