Why does Leonidas' mother look exactly like his wife in the flashbacks?

It makes no sense since they're not related.

Sometimes in films the parents and children are played the same actors or by lookalikes when there is a flashback to the parents at the same age, but Queen Gorgo was not the child of Leonidas' mother was she?

reply

There is no sense in this...none whatsoever.

No, she wasn't a child of Leonidas' mother.

She was a daughter of his half brother, ex-king Kleomenes, though. A fun fact.

reply

Leonidas wife is his sister. Yes incest.

reply

She was his half niece in fact

reply

Incest is best. If you can't keep it in your pants, keep it in the family.

it was meant to imply that men choose wives who remind them of their mothers.
Freud said that so it must be true

The woman did look similar to Lena Headey, but not "exactly." As for the Freudian thing . . . I wouldn't even BEGIN to touch that with this movie - unless I was an extremely accomplished Freudian scholar. You'd be here all year.
