Great Movie

I can't believe some of you nitpickers can find something wrong with this movie. I have seen every version of it and this is the best - one of my top 10s. Two observations: in the book, Elizabeth was initially attracted more to Mr. Wickham. Also in retrospect, Elizabeth later agreed with Darcy concerning the inappropriate conduct of her family that he gave for separating Jane and Bingley.

I like this version, but it is not my favourite. If one could take aspects from the 1980, 1995, and this version, have it the length of the mini series, it could be great. I really dislike both Mrs. Bennet, and Mr. Collins in the 95 version, but Colin Firth is Mr Darcy. I also think that stylistically there are many things not correct in this version. The clothes and the hair are not right for the time. Plus it's so condensed with so much missing in both story and characters.

It's not great, if you know anything about that period.

I think this film is the result of Wright trying to make his own Barry Lyndon.

Not my absolute favorite but it was my first introduction to a Jane Austen story. I went for Kiera Knightly who was coming off of Pirates and I adored this movie. It made me want to know more and then I moved to the '95 version, which is my favorite. I also saw the 1980s version and the one with Laurence Olivier. I just re-watched it a few nights ago and I forgot how fast it moves. There's so much cut, which is expected. It's great for a beginner. I'm sorry it gets so much hate.
