Seriously?

That was it? That was the huge flood? I mean, yeah, don't get me wrong - I suppose if there were a flood like that in real life, it would be the biggest news story for several months, but still... I was expecting something of biblical proportions. Much higher water level, much longer flood, much more destruction, et cetera. It seemed like the production company had just ran way over budget by the time they filmed the flood scene and just said "screw it, we don't have enough money for all that CGI, let's just call it a day".

I agree. It was very hyped up and all of that... and then it just dropped you like a lead balloon.

Think about it, though--this was made (and marketed) as a 'family film'; had there been some sort of huge worldwide flood, millions of people would have drowned. All those that doubted Evan and chose not to get into the ark would have to die in a horrible way. Granted, that's how it went down in the Bible, but the New Testament itself is a pretty graphic read; R rated material for sure

They needed some way to gloss over this, and I guess a mini-flood was their best bet.

God said in the Bible he wouldn't flood the world again. Even I have my doubts God even flooded the world at all. But God wasn't going to actually drown everyone and everything.

The idea of the dam flood, and God making Evan to build an Ark to save humans and animals was a welcomed twist. Humans wouldn't have believed until that moment they saw the dam crumble.

You mean Old Testament. I was wondering how they were going to give the movie a happy and comical ending after destroying all of humanity.

Heh heh heh - me too.

Halfway through I started thinking, how are they going to have a flood big enough to warrant this ark, without millions of people drowning.

Enjoyable film. Amazing effects.
