Watched this again for the nth time - love it and if I wait long enough, it's all new to me each time - and this is the first time I ever noticed that Weevil plumped up quite a bit in Season 3.
Not sure why, but perhaps it's because he was no longer part of the PCHers and riding a motorcycle.
If you do a google search, you can find the answer. In part it goes:
"There was a health problem with the actor playing Weevil, Francis Capra, which resulted in a bad reaction to treatment that caused producers to keep him out of many episodes this season."
And another: "According to the boards at Television Without Pity (where he used to post there), Francis Capra had leg injury and his illness required steroids as part of the treatment, and the side-effects include weight gain, muscle weakness (limp), and complexion issues."

I could've looked it up on Google or checked Television Without Pity, but I figured that by making a pithy/rude comment on an IMDB message board would more than likely get me the answer. Thanks for proving me right.
Also, sorry to hear that he was injured/ill - he was a great character who had a better on-again/off-again relationship with Veronica than either Logan or Duncan ever did.
