Was that his real life son at the end? That guy staring at him from the car window?

Yes, the kid in the VW wagon that passes by was Homer Murray, Bill's real son.

Yes, I'm aware of that, I mean, was it his character's son, that he'd been searching for?

Probably not. I think the point of that scene is to show that, from now on, Don will see himself in other young men and constantly be wondering if that could be his son. I thought it was a great scene and as Bill's real life son looks so much like him.

Take from it what you will, that's the nature of Broken Flowers. It was a red herring in my opinion, making us wonder if Don had even met his son (the young man who runs from Don) or not.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
