The boy from the airport--SPOILERS

The way he totally freaked out when Don suggested their possible father/son relationship was just a tad over the top.

Not only does he run off immediately, but the little punk even keeps running full throttle when he's already a block away, as if it were possible for a fifty-something like Don to overtake him on foot. Come ON!

I didn't find this particular scene realistic, since Don was non-threatening throughout their entire conversation and posed the question in a low-key manner.

Otherwise a very good movie, one of those "thinking man's" flicks that doesn't spell everything out, leaving Don and the viewer alike wondering where he'll go from there.

Indeed. Any other person would say "What?..no you got the wrong person" or something along those lines, and not run off like they just seen a ghost.
It raises the question, who is the one person that would panick like that?

Simple he thought Murray was nuts as I would have as well.

Don could be as well serial killer to him judging by his actions, no matter he stated he is not gay. It seemed over the top but after all we don't know backsory of the boy, maybe he run away from somewhere and have trouble with law, s when he feels something is not right he just runs away. Anyway from very beginning was Don way to friendly and strange, but boy was really hungry so he accepted food, but when it became strange for the boy tha this guy wanna play daddy and son with him, he just ran away. As for running on full throttle, Don as serial killer can have car to pursue him so it makes sense to get away from him as far as possible.

Hahaha totally agree, that scene was ridiculous. Really unsatisfying ending as well after that.

Maybe his father sexually abused him (not a good subject) and he's really scared of these kind of men.

Bill Murray seemed crazy to be asking the young man a question like this. The young man had mysterious reasons for being in town anyway -- he was jumpy and nervous -- and it's not surprising that the young man reacted as he did.
